A Bariatric full electric Hospital Bed/Mattress/SR is a heavy-duty, motorized medical bed system designed for larger, overweight, or obese patients, typically with a weight capacity ranging from 600 to 1,000 pounds or more. The "SR"  stands for Side Rails or Safety Rails.

  • Bariatric Bed Frame: The frame is constructed with reinforced, heavy-duty steel to ensure strength, stability, and patient safety, as it needs to support significantly more weight than a standard hospital bed.
  • Full Electric Operation: The "full electric" designation means that all bed adjustments are motorized and controlled via an easy-to-use hand pendant or remote control. This allows the patient or caregiver to electronically adjust:Head/Backrest elevation.Foot/Knee elevation.Overall bed height (hi-lo adjustment). This is particularly important for patient transfers and caregiver ergonomics.
  • Bariatric Mattress: The system includes a specialized, heavy-duty mattress, often made of high-density foam, gel, or a low-air-loss/alternating pressure system. These mattresses are wider than conventional mattresses (commonly 42" to 54" wide) and are designed to provide superior support, even weight distribution, and pressure redistribution to help prevent bed sores in patients who spend extended periods in bed.
  • Safety Rails (SR): The system includes side rails (often T-rails or half-length rails) that provide added safety by preventing falls and offering support for patients when getting in or out of bed or repositioning themselves. They are often removable for easy patient transfer.
